Terms of Service · Version 2026-05-09

Terms of service.

The rules of the room. Short, plain, and binding once you tap "continue".

1. The agreement

These Terms ("Terms") form a binding agreement between you and Youconic Ltd, a company incorporated in United Kingdom (registration [Registration number]), with registered office at [Registered office address — street, city, postcode, country] ("Youconic", "we", "us").

By creating an account, ticking the acceptance box at sign-up, or using the service in any way, you confirm that you have read these Terms and the Privacy Policy, that you are at least 18, and that you accept both. If you do not accept, do not use the service.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 to use Youconic. The service is built for adults and recommends venues, drinks, and experiences that may not be appropriate for minors. If you are under 18, you may not create an account, and we will close any account we find to belong to a minor.

You confirm you are not on any sanctions list and that your use of Youconic is not prohibited by law in your country of residence.

3. Your account

You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you give us at sign-up, for keeping your sign-in credentials safe, and for any activity under your account. Tell us immediately if you suspect unauthorised access by writing to legal@youconic.com.

One account per person. Don't impersonate anyone, don't create accounts for bots, and don't share credentials.

4. What Youconic does

Youconic is a personal taste engine: it surfaces three daily recommendations and answers your questions about places, films, music, and experiences, calibrated to your taste and context. Recommendations are suggestions, not advice. Availability, quality, prices, opening hours, and the experience itself are determined by the third-party venues, publishers, and partners — not by us.

We curate sources and synthesise recommendations using both editorial sources and an AI model (Claude, by Anthropic). The model can make mistakes — including, occasionally, recommending a venue that has closed or that does not exist as described. You agree to verify before you commit (book the table, buy the ticket, travel to the place).

5. Connectors and third-party services

Connecting Spotify, your calendar, Gmail, or any other external service is optional and governed both by these Terms and by the terms of the third-party service. If you violate a third-party service's terms (for example, by using a Spotify account that isn't yours), we may suspend the connector or your account. When you book through an integrated partner (OpenTable, Resy, DICE, etc.), you transact directly with that partner under their terms.

6. Subscriptions and billing (when premium tiers are launched)

A free tier is available and the service may also be offered on a paid subscription. Where a paid plan is available, the price, billing period, and renewal terms are presented at the point of purchase. Subscriptions auto-renew at the end of each billing period at the then-current price unless cancelled. You can cancel at any time from /account; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current period.

EU/UK statutory withdrawal. Consumers in the EU and UK have a 14-day right of withdrawal from a digital service purchase. By starting to use a paid feature within the 14-day window, you expressly acknowledge that the service has begun and waive that right to the extent permitted by law. Outside the 14-day window, payments for completed billing periods are non-refundable except where mandatory law provides otherwise. We will refund a clearly broken or undelivered service.

Taxes (VAT, GST, sales tax) are added where required.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use Youconic for any illegal or harmful purpose.
  • Reverse-engineer the model, scrape recommendations at scale, or use any automated system to extract data from the service.
  • Resell, sub-license, or commercially exploit recommendations, cohort signal, or any part of the service without our written permission.
  • Submit content (notes, ratings, invite messages) that is defamatory, harassing, hateful, sexually explicit involving minors, or otherwise unlawful.
  • Interfere with the service, probe for vulnerabilities (except under our published responsible-disclosure programme), circumvent rate limits, or attempt to gain access to any account other than your own.
  • Use Youconic to send spam, including via the invite mechanic.

We may suspend or close any account that violates these rules, with or without notice depending on the severity, and may remove content that violates them.

8. Your content

You keep ownership of everything you submit (notes, ratings, uploaded photos, invite messages, free-text answers). You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, process, transmit, and display that content as needed to operate the service. The licence is limited to that purpose, ends when you delete the content (or your account), and never extends to training third-party models.

You confirm you have the right to submit any content you upload, including any photos. Don't upload other people's copyrighted work without permission.

9. Our intellectual property

The Youconic name, the lowercase-omicron mark, the Taste Constitution, the curated source library, the recommendation algorithm, the codebase, the brand assets, and everything else we create are owned by us. These Terms grant you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive licence to use the service for your own personal, non-commercial cultural enjoyment.

We reserve all rights not expressly granted. You may not copy, frame, or republish substantial parts of the recommendations (including in newsletters or social-media accounts that operate commercially) without our written permission.

10. Recommendations are not advice

Youconic does not provide medical, dietary, financial, legal, travel-safety, or professional advice. Recommendations are for personal taste and cultural discovery only. Consult a qualified professional for matters where you need actual advice (allergies, travel risk in conflict zones, dietary restrictions, etc.).

11. Disclaimers

The service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, whether express, implied, statutory, or otherwise, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, non-infringement, or that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that recommendations will meet your expectations.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain implied warranties; the exclusions in this section apply only to the extent permitted by the law of your country of residence. Nothing in these Terms limits your statutory rights as a consumer.

12. Limitation of liability

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for: (a) death or personal injury caused by our negligence; (b) fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation; (c) gross negligence or wilful misconduct; or (d) any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law.

Subject to the above, to the maximum extent permitted by law: (i) neither party is liable to the other for any loss of profits, revenue, business, opportunity, anticipated savings, goodwill, or for any indirect or consequential loss whatsoever; and (ii) our total aggregate liability arising out of or in connection with these Terms or your use of the service in any 12-month period is capped at the greater of (A) the fees you paid us in that period or (B) one hundred pounds sterling (£100) / equivalent.

You agree that this allocation of risk is reasonable given that much of the service is provided free of charge.

13. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claim, loss, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of (a) your use of the service in breach of these Terms, (b) any content you submit, or (c) your violation of any third-party right (including any third-party service's terms). We will notify you promptly of any claim and cooperate in your defence.

14. Termination

You can close your account at any time from /account, or by emailing privacy@youconic.com. On closure, we delete your account and personal data within 7 days, save where retention is required by law (see Privacy Policy §12).

We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms, if your account presents a security risk, if we are required to by law, or if we discontinue the service. We will give reasonable notice where lawful and possible.

Sections that by their nature should survive termination — IP, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnity, governing law — survive.

15. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The current version number is at the top of this page (currently 2026-05-09). If we make material changes — anything that affects your rights or our liability — we will email everyone with an account at least 30 days before the change takes effect, and we will require you to re-accept the new Terms before continuing to use the service.

Non-material changes (typos, clarifications, sub-processor list updates that do not change purposes) take effect on the date the version number is bumped.

16. Governing law and jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Subject to any mandatory consumer-protection laws of your country of residence, you and we agree that disputes will be brought exclusively in the courts of London, England.

If any provision of these Terms is held unenforceable, the rest remain in effect. Failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of substantially all our assets.
